Monkey Pod (Cassia petersiana)

Family Caesalpinioideae
A small shrub or tree growing to about 12m found mainly along riverbeds and streams.
Various parts of the tree are used in African traditional medicine as a purgative and to treat fevers, gonorrhoea and skin infections. The roots and bark is given in soup or milk to a dog injured by the horns of an antelope or to make a lazy hunting dog lean and hungry and so more eager for the chase.
